The business began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by brothers Dick and Mac McDonald in San Bernardino, California. The first McDonald's restaurants opened in The United States, followed by stores in Canada, Costa Rica, Japan, Netherlands, Germany, Australia and Sweden. Found in 119 countries

The management information software used by McDonalds is Oracle E-Business Suite. This Software allowed a series of centralized operations for coordination of administrative operations. This ERP software also helps the middle management in regional standardization of central applications and processes, such as for financial reports. Improved communication by using Oracle EBusiness Suite, allowing shared information locally and globally.

Transaction Processing System: In order to keep the stock order status updated, TPS helps in coordinating the same with the actual sales per day. Decision Support System: In order to woo the corporate, the company gathered information about the customer usage of wireless services , length of stay and sales level, to decide which outlets needed WiFi updating. Management Information System: In McDonalds they implement MIS system which is used to produce periodic reports such as a daily list of employees and the hours they work, or a monthly report of expenses as compared to a budget.

Since Mc Donald has a heavy customer traffic, first priority for McDonalds is to deliver best restaurant experience for the customers , for that McDonalds used POS system " Point of scale system " to ensure fast and accurate order , because this system is used to speed the business process, it can track massive amounts of data in seconds. With these systems, each order is instantly transmitted to several workstations throughout the facility, The cashier instantly knows what payment is due. The kitchen knows what orders are coming up, and how long a customer has been waiting.

Hyperactive Bob system: McDonalds implemented this system to let their employees know when they are about to be busy , this system used computers and rooftop cameras to monitor traffic entering a restaurant's parking lot and drivethru.

The middle management was able to accurately take decisions about the human resource, inventory and stock and financial decisions well in advance. Also, individual employee performance, sales reports and other reports were readily available by using Oracles E-Business Suite.
